In every small town or village in Spain you can buy fresh food and other goods in open air markets on certain days. These are called "días de mercado". In times when shopping via internet is the biggest trend, nothing can be compared to going for a walk early in the morning and buy food, sometimes directly from the producer, reach the days when this was the main tendency, one that still remains something so typically Mediterranean and teaches you about a healthy way of life. There is also no better chance to strike up a little conversation in your target language.
