Fiestas de verano

There are many popular festivals in Spain all through the year, very old, as well, some of them go back to the Roman times, which will puzzle the traveller, as it is uncommon to find such a display in other European countries.

The Spanish people are outdoor people, by which I mean that they like to stay out of their houses, weather permitting. People meet in restaurants, instead of entertaining at home, they go to discos or disco-bars, to the cinema. Shopping is not viewed as a hobby or something that brings so much fun, in comparison to the UK. By contrast, meeting for a chat after supper, gossiping, is an everyday must for many Spanish men and women, especially in the often hot summer months.
